Back to Bombay

First things first, it's fucking hot. Like, can't leave the house without literal droplets of sweat dripping down my v uncomfortable body.

But it's worth it bc it's mf Bombay ❤️❤️

We spent about two months in the Northeast, mostly based in Guwahati, while spending half of those two months jumping around, sightseeing, visiting family, doing nature shit etc. By May it was hot af in Guwahati too, a solid 10 degrees hotter than it is here in Bombay rn, with similar levels of humidity. There was a day that my weather app said "feels like 123” (!!) The biggest diff is that our flat here is on the top floor which traps ALL THE HEAT 😭  We basically live in the sole bedroom that has an in-window AC unit, and constantly have a carafe of Indian Liquid IV in the fridge to sip on throughout the day.

Hot. Caliente.

No offense to Guwahati but there was like, nothing to do. We went to the major sightseeing spots and I hit up a bunch of the ~ top ~ cafes, restaurants etc but they were mid at best. The best food during the two months there was being at relatives' house and eating some good ass home cooking. I tried and liked (!) mad new foods that I would never have thought of like a savory mashed pumpkin dish?? a white gourd curry, hella types of fish (it's fish country up there fr), so many dals made in so many diff ways, and on and on.

There wasn't a park or any green space in our neighborhood in Guwahati so I'd literally be walking along a major road, breathing in mad fumes and smells to try and get my hot girl walk in. Maybe if I had more time and more people my age, I could figure out what tf young locals do in that city but at the end of the day, I think it's like comparing NYC to Cincinnati. Sorry. Love, love, loved the family time, but I legit cried tears of joy on our approach into BOM airport.

Fast forward to this moment-- I'm sitting at this cute lil cafe that's down the block from our flat (apt for you Americans lol) and it's one of like 3 on this block, not including the Starabucks on the corner. Granted we live in a popular neighborhood with lots of options but I'm v grateful to have this opportunity to get out and have a change of scenery just bc. I'm eating a chocolate croissant that's not too bad and drinking a Vietnamese iced coffee that's really hitting the spot.

Anyway I will work on catching up on the backlog of stories I have-- mountains, hail storms, tigers - oh my!
